Yoga Bound Teachers

Alana Bray

Alana Bray | Yoga Bound

Owner of Yoga Bound, Yoga Teacher, Yoga Therapist and Holistic Health Counselor.

I have received my training in Yoga and Nutrition from sources rich in both tradition and cutting edge scientific knowledge. I believe that Yoga and nutrition are similar, as not just one theory is correct. I have taken the best from every theory I have studied and use these ideas to serve my clients.

I received my Yoga Therapy Training at Loyola Marymount University Yoga Therapy Rx program. In this program I met my teacher, Sherry Brourman. She is a world renown Physical Therapist, Yoga Therapist and author of Walk Yourself Well. For two years I worked in a clinical internship program studying under her and assisting her Yoga Therapy classes in LA.

I love to use my training as a way to help my students find their fluid, graceful movement patterns as they move through a Yoga class. My classes are thoughtfully sequenced against the background of an inspired playlist. I use my words to guide you through the sequence, as well as a way to understand how to engage important points of stability in the body, so that fluid movements and easy breathing become accessible. The number one goal in my Yoga class is to make sure that you experience life inside your body. This breath and this moment with Yourself is what is savored and taken with you off the mat.

I received my training as a Health Coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition‘s cutting-edge Health Coach Training Program.

During my training, I studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts. My teachers included Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine; Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center; Dr. Walter Willett, Chair of Nutrition at Harvard University; Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating; and many other leading researchers and nutrition authorities. My education has equipped me with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and preventive health.

Drawing on my skills in nutrition and Yoga,  as well as my knowledge of different human physiological theories, I work with students to help them meet lifestyle goals that produce real and lasting results.

Tamara’s style of teaching is lighthearted, versatile and adaptable to all students. Her classes have ranged anywhere from 30 minute guided meditations, 60 minute Vinyasa Flow, two hour heated Ashtanga Yoga, 75 minute Power Vinyasa Yoga, “Shakti” (or energetic yoga) and yoga with live music! However, her true passion is evident while teaching a Vinyasa Flow level 2/3 or an Ashtanga improvisational class.

Tamara’s classes are a fusion of Ashtanga yoga, Vinyasa Flow yoga, and Power Yoga all accompanied by an exciting and entrancing mix of contemporary music. Tamara’s classes are physically challenging; however, a powerful practice that anyone can enjoy with modifications and adjustments. The focal point is exclusively on flow, movement with breath, core strength and balance. Rather than using the same fixed or static postures, she uses continuous movements that flow and prevent the body from locking off the muscles or disrupting the blood flow and increase flexibility.
